Cartier Jewellery Valuation
We offer immediate loans on Cartier jewellery at our award-winning London pawn shop, with no credit checks. Even better, once the loan is repaid, you can get your jewellery back, Should you choose to pay off your loan earlier, than that is fine too – no additional interest will be paid to realise you prized Cartier jewellery!
New Bond Street Pawnbrokers uses the following four valuation criteria when lending against Cartier Jewellery:
Model
Cartier jewellery is renowned for its beauty, but certain items are more valuable than others at pawn shops. So make sure you’ve done some research beforehand to discover the approximate value of your jewellery.
Age
Vintage Cartier jewellery tends to be worth more at pawn shops, simply because it is rarer. Find out the year your jewellery was made to better understand its worth.
Condition
Even incredibly rare items will decrease in value if it’s condition is poor. So check your jewellery for marks and defects before you have it valued for a loan, so you’re not surprised.
Provenance
Provenance can help our brokers determine how much we will lend against your Cartier jewellery, Ring, Bracelet, or Necklaces. So before you have it valued, try to find any certification that can confirm service history, authenticity and ownership.
Stones
Cartier jewellery prices can also change according to the jewels that are set into the piece. The highest valued jewels are diamonds, rubies, sapphires, and emeralds, but exact prices will depend on the number of stones, size, cut, clarity, and other factors.
Engraving
One important factor to take into consideration is engraving. Cartier wedding bands are often engraved with particularly personal messages – for example, the initials or names of the bride and groom, along with the date of the wedding. These engravings can lead to your piece depreciating in value, as they are so personal.
It’s important to mention that we recognise just how delicate the decision to take out loans on Cartier wedding and engagement rings can be. We understand that there is a story behind your wedding band – whether happy, sad, or bittersweet, we know that it is entirely your business, and have no desire to pry. That’s why we will treat you with the utmost discretion and sensitivity every step of the way.
From valuation to borrowing funds against your Cartier jewellery
Luxurious and expertly crafted, it should come as no surprise that it’s easy to pawn your Cartier jewellery at our pawn shop in Mayfair, Central London. Prices will of course vary depending on the nature of the piece, as well as its age.
With over 150 years of history behind it, this Parisian brand has become synonymous with wealth and luxury. The Royal Family has worn pieces by Cartier since 1904, when King Edward VII first became a customer of this exclusive brand.
At New Bond Street Pawnbrokers, we are happy to walk you step by step through the process of financing your Cartier engagement or wedding ring, bracelet, earrings, or necklaces, which need not be long or complicated. We’ll answer any questions that you might have, to ensure that the result leaves you completely satisfied.
Before meeting our pawnbrokers, it would help if you checked that your Cartier piece is authentic. Closely examine the stamp on your piece. It should be cleanly and evenly stamped; spelling mistakes are, of course, a dead giveaway that your piece is not the real thing. Although the exact wording may vary, you will find that bracelets and rings are always stamped with their correct size, and all pieces are stamped with their metal type. Owing to Cartier’s luxury status, the only metals used are 18-carat gold and platinum.
Still not sure if your Cartier piece is the real thing?
If you’re not an expert, it can be hard to spot a clever fake. To be certain, take your Cartier jewellery to New Bond Street Pawnbrokers, and have it assessed by jewellery experts who know exactly what to look for. When you’re confident that you’re looking at an authentic Cartier piece, start the financing process by getting in touch with New Bond Street Pawnbrokers, sending a clear photograph of your Cartier ring, bracelet, necklace, brooch, or other piece. By taking a good look at your photo, we’ll be able to get the ball rolling.
How to start
Initially, please send us a clear photograph of your Cartier jewellery. Of course, we will still need to see the piece in person to examine it thoroughly, but providing a good quality photo helps us to make some initial impressions. We will be able to offer you an estimated borrowing price based on your photo and description of your Cartier ring, necklace, bracelet or earrings, but this may vary once we have had the chance to examine it closely.
Once you come to our Mayfair headquarters, we’ll carry out a detailed appraisal on your piece. This process is completely free, and you are under no obligation to make a deal; we want you to have a completely clear, open, and trustworthy idea of what awaits you before you pawn Cartier jewellery for cash. The appraisal process is a transparent one, and we will clearly explain the valuation that we are giving to your piece, as well as the reasons why. We don’t want you to have any doubts or questions left unanswered during this process, so please speak up if you have a query.
The Contract
You can also rest assured that your Cartier jewellery is in good hands, as you will sign a binding contract with us. This contract makes it clear that you are still the rightful owner of your Cartier jewellery while it is being held with us, and when you return to pay back the loan, we will return it to you immediately. This contract can also be extended if needs be, giving you more time to take advantage of your loan before coming to collect your asset.
Our contracts have no minimum term period, and run from minimum of two months to maximum of seven months; this period can be extended if needed, providing you with extra peace of mind. Once the contract has been signed, you will receive credit immediately by bank transfer, allowing you quick access to your capital. You can return to pay back the loan at any point over the next seven months, and we will keep you updated on any developments during this period.
Our experts
At New Bond Street Pawnbrokers, we have an expert team of gemologists who will provide you with excellent appraisals worthy of your Cartier luxury diamond jewellery; we also work with the utmost discretion and sensitivity at all times, as we recognise that the decision of raining credit against a piece of jewellery can be a difficult one for many reasons.
What type of diamond Cartier jewellery can you lend against?
We offer loans on most Cartier bracelets, necklaces, earrings, brooches, and rings (including engagement and wedding rings).
If you hope to pawn Cartier bracelets, there are many designs available that will fetch you a sizeable loan. Cartier jewellery is often more valued the older it is.
That’s why, for example, the original bracelets from the 1970s Love collection are usually worth more than more modern pieces from the line. They may not be adorned with jewels, but vintage Cartier Love bracelets have kept their value well over the decades.
The Cartier panther, first introduced over a hundred years ago, has become iconic and can be seen on a number of different pieces. Lending on Cartier brooches and other types of jewellery which feature the panther motif is also available. Many vintage pieces have the emblematic big cat on them, and you’ll have no problem releasing capital on Cartier earrings, necklaces, and other pieces that showcase the panther.
Looking to pawn Cartier rings?
One of the most famous and sought-after pieces is the Trinity design, which features three interlocking bands in yellow, white, and rose gold. Cartier Trinity rings are often used for engagement or marriage, so they are a common piece when it comes to financing Cartier wedding bands. These romantic pieces have deep symbolism behind them: the white gold band is said to represent friendship, the yellow gold band loyalty, and the rose gold band love.
We also provide loans on Cartier wedding bands. Be aware, however, that when it comes to Cartier wedding bands, the presence of a personalised engraving may lower the value of your piece. The same is true if you wish to pawn Cartier engagement rings. If you have any doubts, please contact New Bond Street Pawnbrokers with a description of your piece, and we will be happy to discuss its potential value with you.
Modern pieces may not have the same wow factor as vintage Cartier jewellery, but they are still luxurious and valuable, so it’s not hard to pawn Cartier necklaces, earrings, and rings with a shorter history. Some of the more recent collections, such as the very modern Cactus de Cartier line, can also attract high prices.
Regardless of when your Cartier piece was made, its name is a guarantee of expert craftsmanship and top-quality materials, so you can expect to find some interest from pawnbrokers. Prices will vary, of course, not only based on age but also the metals, gemstones, and a number of other factors.
Of course, you might not be sure just how old your piece is, or what collection it comes from. This is totally understandable, as Cartier has produced so many lines over the years, and items of jewellery are often given as gifts or inherited; over time, it’s easy for the history of a particular piece to get lost or forgotten. Even the most dedicated jewellery enthusiast may struggle to identify the precise lineage of a piece. That’s why our team of expert gemologists, led by specialist David Sonnenthal, will always be happy to help you with a complete appraisal.
Bring your Cartier jewellery to our Mayfair pawn store for an assessment, and we’ll offer our expert opinion about it. Even sending us a clear photo of your piece will be enough for us to make an initial estimate, and provide you with some information about the history and composition of your item.
Selling vs. Pawning your Cartier diamond jewellery
You might be wondering what types of Cartier jewellery can you sell to a pawnshop? The answer, in our case, is none. At New Bond Pawnbrokers, we want to make it clear that we do not buy Cartier jewellery. However, we will happily accept your Cartier jewellery as collateral in exchange of a loan against it.
This may seem counterintuitive, but we would like to explain why we have made this decision. The key difference is that we will sign a contract making it clear that you remain the legal owner of the piece of jewellery. You have seven months to return, repay your loan, and collect your Cartier jewellery, with no further obligations on your part.
The contract can also be extended, should your circumstances demand it. “Ah,” you say, “but I’m looking for a pawn shop to sell my Cartier jewellery!” We are sorry to say that there are indeed pawnbrokers that buy jewellery directly. However, we firmly recommend against following this path, for a number of reasons.
First, let’s discuss about the price you would get by selling your Cartier wedding or engagement ring / band, earrings, necklace or bracelet. The answer to this implied question is, unfortunately, not very much. Pawnbrokers that buy Cartier jewellery outright offer prices under the fair market value, as they must also be able to re-sell it and make a profit too.
If you are convinced that you would like to sell your jewellery, be aware that if you go through the most reputable channels, this can be a long, drawn-out process. Indeed, it is better this way, because you will finish confident that you have received a fair price for your piece. For a luxury jewellery brand like Cartier, this is a very important factor to keep in mind.
Secondly, think of the sentimental value that you might have attached to your piece of Cartier jewellery. Selling it means that it will be gone permanently, while pawning it offers you a short-term loan when you need it – but crucially, you remain the owner, and you will have it back in the future.
Finally, by pawning your Cartier jewellery, you are taking advantage of an asset that you already have, and can potentially raise money against it again in the future. A sale gives you a one-time payout, while financing allows you to come back should you find yourself in need of a loan again.
For all these reasons, we do not buy Cartier jewellery, and we recommend that, if you are still in a “selling” mindset, of “I need to find a pawnbroker to sell my Cartier jewellery”, you rethink this. We are happy to discuss the exact nature of the pawning process with you, either over the phone, by email, or in person when you drop into our Mayfair store.
Finally, if you are looking to pawn your jewellery, or to take a loan on your diamonds, at New Bond Street Pawnbrokers we lend against various types of fine jewellery like diamond earrings, diamond necklaces, diamond rings, and fine brands of diamond jewellery such as Graff, Van Cleef & Arpels, Bulgari, Harry Winston , Tiffany and Cartier to name just a few.
*We are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority
Can you pawn broken Cartier jewellery?
The answer is usually no. However, things vary on a case-by-case basis; it depends on the exact nature of the piece and the value of the metal and any gemstones. If in doubt, please make contact with New Bond Street Pawnbrokers, and we will be happy to look at your particular circumstances and provide an answer.
Can you pawn stolen Cartier jewellery?
No. No reputable pawn store for Cartier jewellery will have anything to do with stolen jewellery, and we are proud to say that we have a good working relationship with our regulators, the Financial Conduct Authority. If we suspect any piece of being stolen, we will report it immediately. Furthermore, reports of stolen jewellery are circulated around pawnbrokers, so any high-profile pieces that have gone missing are already known to us. Any attempts to raise credit on stolen Cartier jewellery will not end well.
Can you pawn found Cartier jewellery?
No. If you are fortunate enough to stumble upon a piece of valuable Cartier jewellery, your first temptation may be to search for a pawnbroker that would release capital against it. Again, however, we work closely with and are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. We will only sign contracts to lend against jewellery, including Cartier, with the legitimate owner of the piece. If you find a piece of valuable jewellery and have no way of identifying who the owner might be, you should report it to your local police station as you would do with any other piece of lost property.
Can you pawn engraved Cartier jewellery?
Engravement can significantly reduce the value of any piece of Cartier jewellery. Please mention the engraving when you contact New Bond Street Pawnbrokers. Depending on the piece, the value of the metal, and any gemstones, you may still be able to pawn your engraved Cartier ring or band, but it will be worth less than a non-engraved piece. The nature of the engraving may also affect the value. The more personalised the engraving, the greater the drop in value; a generic engraving that is free from names and dates may not cause such a dramatic dip. Naturally, there are some exceptions to the rule, most notably if the engraving is of historical interest. For example, in 2017, a Cartier gold swizzle stick engraved with the name Audrey and owned by legendary actress Audrey Hepburn sold for over £23,000 at auction. This kind of added value is, of course, only possible in the case that the jewellery has a proven, verifiable connection to the famous individual.
Can you pawn fake Cartier jewellery?
No. Don't think you can pull the wool over our eyes, either; the team of expert gemologists at our pawn shop for Cartier jewellery can identify even the most clever fake. Just remember that any pawnbroker worth their salt will be able to spot a fake piece. Sadly, we know that sometimes customers come to us in good faith and are surprised to learn that their Cartier piece is not the genuine article. We recognise that this can come as a shock, but we must be firm and insist that we only lend against authentic Cartier jewellery.
Will Cartier authenticate a ring?
Before financing your Cartier band, it is important to authenticate it, as fake Cartier rings will not be accepted at pawn stores. Unfortunately, Cartier does not provide an authentication service - however, New Bond Street Pawnbrokers provides a free assessment of authenticity, which will be carried out by experts. Once you are happy that you are the owner of an authentic Cartier band, we will be able to offer you guidance on taking credit against it.
How to tell a Cartier ring is real?
Being able to tell if a Cartier ring is real is essential if you a looking to secure loans on your Cartier bands. Authentic Cartier rings should be cleanly and evenly stamped, with no spelling mistakes, so closely examine your stamp. All Cartier rings are stamped with their correct size, as well as with their metal type. Cartier only produces rings from 18-carat gold and platinum, in keeping with the luxury reputation of the brand, so any other metal suggests your ring is a fake. Our pawnbroking team will be happy to help you identify whether your Cartier ring is authentic, so come and see us today if you would like us to check your ring’s authenticity.
How to check a Cartier ring’s serial number?
The serial number is a way of checking the authenticity of your Cartier band, though it is important to also get it checked by an expert. To check the serial number of your Cartier band, you will have to contact Cartier directly by phone, email, or in store. They will then be able to advise you as to whether your ring has an authentic serial number or not. That being said, not all Cartier jewellery is stamped with a serial number, for example, the first Cartier Love bracelets did not have one, making it all the more important to get your Cartier ring properly checked for authenticity.
